WhatsApp Beta Adds Peripheral Tracking and Smarter Chat Controls

WhatsApp Beta Adds Peripheral Tracking and Smarter Chat Controls
  • Users can view connected peripherals in Linked Devices for better control
  • Chat and storage tools simplified for easier management and organization
  • Apple Watch is the first supported peripheral, connecting automatically without QR codes

WhatsApp is testing new features in its latest iOS beta (version 25.37.10.71) aimed at giving users more transparency and control over their accounts. The update introduces the ability to track connected peripherals and enhanced chat and storage management tools, according to reports.

The most notable change is the peripheral visibility in the Linked Devices section. Currently, the Apple Watch is the first supported device. Unlike traditional linked devices, peripherals connect automatically in the background without needing QR codes or verification codes. Users can view the device name, last active time, and control syncing by uninstalling the app linked to that peripheral. This feature provides better clarity on which devices are actively syncing with a user’s WhatsApp account.

In addition, WhatsApp is refining chat and storage controls. Users can now archive, mute, and organize conversations more easily, and the storage overview shows exactly how much space is occupied by media, documents, and large files. These improvements make it simpler to free up space and reduce clutter, addressing long-standing requests from heavy WhatsApp users.

These updates reflect WhatsApp’s push to strengthen multi-device integration while giving users more control. As wearables like the Apple Watch become central to communication, being able to see and manage connected devices grows increasingly important. The improvements to chat and storage management further ensure a smoother, more organized experience for users managing busy WhatsApp accounts.
