# Maruti 800

The Maruti 800 has over 30 years of production and holds the second longest production car Maruti 800title next to the Hindustan Ambassador. With over 2.6 million units sold, the Maruti 800 is the most popular car and was exported to South Africa, Nepal, Bangladesh and some selected European markets where it was sold under Maruti Suzuki.

The company however began to phase out the model by the year 2010 as Maruti Suzuki did not have any plans to give it an upgrade to Euro IV or BS IV emission norms. Maruti stopped the sales of the car in 13 cities like Kanpur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Agra and Surat, where it was mandatory for the vehicles sold to be Euro IV compliant.

# Hyundai Santro

Hyundai, one of the largest automakers in the country announced that its iconic family car, The Santro will hit the brakes in India.

Santro was a car that made it identical with the company as much as 800 was for Maruti. The car was launched in 1998 and became a symbol and a famous name in the country after the Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was its brand ambassador.

Even today, the Santro is the highest selling model for Hyundai and the company plans to focus on other products such as the i10 and Eon. With this plan on board, the company plans to stop the production of the Santro by the end of November.
