Maruti Suzuki Rules the Roost in FY16


Maruti Suzuki Celerio

The recently launched Celerio enters the list at the seventh position. Celerio houses an automated manual transmission technology; this innovative approach also witnessed an up-lift of customers in the selling market. The all new Celerio houses a 792cc twin cylinder turbo diesel motor that is tweaked to deliver approx. 30 Kmpl of fuel efficiency making it the most fuel efficient car in Indian market ever.

Maruti Suzuki Omni

Units Sold: 79, 949

Maruti Suzuki Omni has recorded best sales since 2010. A widely accepted vehicle for large Indian families, Omni is also a best-seller in the taxi segment, especially at hill-stations. The sliding door, tight turning circle and the peppy engine makes the vehicle a perfect fit for taxi usage. The car-maker is also launching a cargo variant of Maruti Omni in both LPG and CNG variants.

Incredibly enough, Maruti's volume share in the top ten models has shot up to 73 percent with six of its models accounting for 10,29,639 units out of a total of 14,19,768 units sold in the fiscal year. Last fiscal year saw it at 68 percent with sales of 9, 12,415 units. Completing the list were Hyundai’s Grand i10 and Elite i20. Grand i10 sold 1, 26,181 while i20 stood at sixth with sales of 1, 04,841 units. Mahindra's SUV Bolero attained the 8th position with 81,559 units sold while Honda’s mid-sized sedan City took the 10th spot with 77,548 units sold during the fiscal year.
