KVIC Disburses Rs 300 Crore Subsidy to 11,480 Beneficiaries Under PMEGP

In a major push towards self-employment and entrepreneurship, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) on June 17, 2025, disbursed a margin money subsidy of Rs 300 crore to 11,480 service sector beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The disbursement was conducted virtually from KVIC’s Rajghat office in New Delhi, with the subsidy amount being directly transferred to the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
The event was led by Shri Manoj Kumar, Chairman, KVIC, who was joined by Ms. Roop Rashi, CEO, KVIC, and other senior officials. Addressing the occasion, Shri Manoj Kumar highlighted the program's critical role in realizing the vision of a 'Self-reliant and Developed India' under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasized that PMEGP has evolved into more than just a financial assistance scheme it has become a nationwide movement empowering youth, women, and artisans through self-employment and entrepreneurship.
The disbursement was based on a loan sanction of Rs 906 crore and witnessed active participation from all six zones of the country.
In the Central Zone, Rs 72 crore was disbursed for 2,403 projects in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand, with loan sanctions amounting to Rs 218 crore. The East Zone comprising Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands, saw Rs 22 crore distributed among 996 projects against sanctioned loans worth Rs 71 crore.
The North Zone states Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Rajasthan, and Chandigarh received a subsidy of Rs 61 crore for 2,713 projects, with loans totaling Rs 184 crore. The North Eastern Region, including Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura, saw 81 projects being allocated a subsidy of Rs 2 crore.
The South Zone recorded the highest subsidy disbursal with Rs 116 crore allocated to 4,565 projects in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry, backed by loans of over Rs 343 crore. In the Western Zone, which includes Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Goa, Rs 26 crore was disbursed for 722 projects, with loans sanctioned at Rs 82 crore.
Since its inception, PMEGP has emerged as a cornerstone of rural and urban economic empowerment. Till the financial year 2024-25, the scheme has facilitated the establishment of 10.18 lakh micro enterprises, enabling loan disbursals worth Rs 73,348 crore. Of this, margin money subsidy of Rs 27,166 crore has been extended to beneficiaries. Importantly, over 90 lakh people have gained direct and indirect employment through the program, establishing it as one of India's most impactful self-employment schemes.
KVIC’s latest disbursement underlines the government’s sustained commitment to economic decentralization, employment generation, and grassroots entrepreneurship, reinforcing the broader mission of building an Atmanirbhar Bharat.
