Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met with Cisco CEO Chuck Robbins and his leadership team, encouraging the global tech giant to expand its presence in India’s rapidly advancing digital technology ecosystem. The meeting emphasized India’s potential as a global innovation hub and the importance of inclusive technology development for grassroots impact.
Highlighting the nation's vast talent pool and vibrant digital economy, Minister Scindia urged Cisco to explore further investments and expand operations into Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. He also discussed strengthening cybersecurity frameworks and co-creating digital solutions that uplift the common man.
“It was a pleasure to meet Chuck Robbins, CEO of Cisco and his team. Deliberated on deepening Cisco’s tech footprint in India, expanding into Tier 2 and 3 markets, strengthening cybersecurity, and co-creating solutions that truly touch lives at the grassroots”, the minister shared on social media platform X. He added that India is committed to becoming a secure, inclusive, and future-ready digital nation.
Scindia underscored India’s pivotal role in driving global advancements such as 6G and artificial intelligence, positioning Bharat as a central player in the global tech race. He encouraged Cisco to play a greater role in co-developing ecosystems that go beyond infrastructure to empower communities and prepare the next generation for a digital future.
The dialogue builds upon Cisco’s growing presence in India, marked by the opening of its first manufacturing facility in Chennai in 2024. The plant, developed in partnership with Indian contract manufacturer Flex, is expected to generate over $1.3 billion annually through combined exports and domestic production while creating 1,200 jobs.
“This facility is a testament to India’s growing Atmanirbharta in the global technology landscape”, Scindia said at the inauguration.
As India surges ahead on its digital journey, Minister Scindia welcomed Cisco to actively participate in shaping a resilient, inclusive, and innovation-driven future for Digital Bharat.
