Huhtamaki X Beach Warriors to clean up Mumbai Beaches
Huhtamaki India is one of the world’s largest sustainable packaging companies and associated with Beach Warriors to clean up the beaches of Mumbai.
As part of the World Clean Up Day, Huhtamaki India, in partnership with Beach Warriors (Khushiyaan Foundation), took the initiative to contribute towards global cleanliness with a beach clean-up drive. The drive was initiated to support the central government's mega coastal clean-up, which began on Independence Day.
On the 17th of September, Huhtamaki employees dedicated their Saturday morning to removing garbage and plastic waste to restore the glory of Mumbai's iconic Dadar Beach. They learnt about plastic recycling and got a deeper insight into different materials well-suited for a circular economy with a good recycling infrastructure.
The team collected 35 Kg of post-consumer waste / per volunteer, was donated to the Huhtamaki Foundation Recycling Plant. Huhtamaki believes these small efforts can make a big difference over time, helping Mumbai and to create a better environment.
