BENGALURU: Two decades ago owning a four-wheeler was glamorous. Not everyone had enough assets to buy one and later maintain one. And then came the Maruti era. The company in collaboration with Suzuki launched affordable car models like Maruti 800 and Alto that made the middle class dreams of owing a vehicle come true. This cleared the path for other companies such as Tata and Hyundai to invest and sell cars in India.

Coming back to the present, with more money in hands of the consumer, banking and loan options, advance technology on shop floor, and fierce competition between auto makers all leads to more buying opportunities for the customers.  Having said that, here we bring you a list of top 10 list of cars that were sold in highest volume in India in 2015, source NDTV.

Maruti Suzuki Alto

No. of units sold: 263,422

Everyone’s favorite small car Alto has topped the list with more than 2.5 lakh units sold the past year. What makes Alto this popular is its price and performance combined with the brand name ‘Maruti’.
