Maruti to Unveil Vitara Brezza in the Third Week of March 2016

BENGALURU: Maruti Vitara Brezza that made its debut at the recently concluded Delhi Auto Expo 2016, is all set to be launched in the third week of March-between 20th and 25th, as reported by Vikas Yogi for ‘The Financial Times’. First subcompact SUV from Maruti Suzuki, Vitara Brezza will face stiff competition from Ford Ecosport, Mahindra TUV300, Tata Nexon and other upcoming models in this sector. Maruti’s first ever sub-4 meter compact SUV, Vitara is expected to be priced within the range Rs 7lakh - Rs 10 lakh. Unlike the S-Cross crossover and Baleno premium hatchback, Vitara will be available at regular Maruti dealerships across India.

The thing that makes it stand out in the crowd is the fact that it has been conceptualized, designed and developed entirely by the company’s India based research and development team led by CV Raman, Executive Director, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki India. This ‘Made-in-India’ product is expected to be exported to several markets including Asia, Latin America and Africa.

This sturdy SUV derives its power from a 1.3 liter DDiS 200 diesel engine, which is the same that does duty on the Ciaz and the S-Cross as well. Mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, this engine develops 89bhp and 200Nm. Initially the plan is to launch the diesel version, with the petrol version under development now and is expected to be rolled out later this year. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza will be made available in six variants –LDi, LDi(O), VDi, VDi(O), ZDi and ZDi+— all powered by a 1.3 liter, 89bhp, diesel engine.
