BENGALURU: Hyundai has unveiled the features of its third-generation car, the all new i30 hatch. With ‘N’ branding, the new model is expected to hit the European market in the beginning of 2017. Awaited to be officially launched at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, the i30 hatch happens to be the first high performance car the company has ever produced.

Although the new i30 hatch sports the latest Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, the company has built the front portion with a cascading grill adopted from the second-generation car, the Grand i10.

For unprecedented performance level, the new i30 will be powered by a 1.4-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol motor that delivers a massive top power of 140PS and a maximum torque of 242Nm. The engine is expected to be combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. To explore further options, Hyundai is also expected to introduce its i30 with other options such as a 1.4-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.0-litre T-GDi three-cylinder turbo petrol engine or even a bigger 1.6-litre CRDi diesel.

Focusing on headlights, the i30 houses LED lights for both low and high beam. Furthermore, the car also includes a three-projector setup, fog lamps, vertically placed daytime running LEDs (DRLs) and alloy wheel options of 15, 16 and 17 inches.

i30’s interior is designed with a symmetric layout and also come with a five to eight inch touch-screen infotainment system. With a massive boot space of 395 litres, the car also features an adjustable driver’s seat integrated with memory settings, Apple CarPlay, inductive wireless charging for smartphones and the Google Android Auto.

As always, considering safety as the top priority, Hyundai will launch its new i30 equipped with safety measures such as a Blind Spot Detector (BSD), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Rear-Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Driver Attention Alert (DAA), High Beam Assist (HBA), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) and seven airbags which also includes a knee airbag.
