Guerlain Teams up with VOIR to Bring-in Virtual Try-on Makeup

2019 has been an exciting year so far and the interactivity between people with real world representations is common now. The growth of AR technology in the recent years is massive and considering this, VOIR, a technology company which focuses on bringing beauty experience into digital life partners with Guerlain, one of the oldest French perfume, cosmetics and skincare house. The main agenda of the partnership is to implement VOIR’s technology to aid users to try-on Guerlain products using AR.

Jean-Denis Mariani, CDO, Guerlain, comments, “Consumers don't just want to buy something, they want a great customer experience that complements the product; And when it comes to make-up products, we know that it could be difficult for some of them to buy it without testing it. As a result, we worked closely with our partner VOIR to develop a customized virtual try-on tool, allowing our consumers to test in-store many shades of our make-up products notably our star products like Rouge G lipsticks, L'Essentiel foundation or the legendary Terracotta, before buying it. Create seamless experiences, removing all friction points during the whole consumer journey is one of our top priorities”.

Guerlain recently launched its new matte shades of the iconic Rouge G Lipstick and was available for virtual try-on using iPads installed in Guerlain retailers globally. VOIR’s AR solution is driven by proprietary technology of digitization and that uses physical makeup products through scanning, calibration and more. Users can try digitized products with results mirroring that of real in-store try-on.

Founded in 2016, VOIR allows users to create animated emoticons and stickers using its AI and neutral networks. In addition, VOIR’s white label solutions for Brands and Retailers simplify the communication with customers and increases sales. As of now, the app is downloaded by more than 2,800,000 users worldwide. Speaking about the collaboration with Guerlain, Dmitry Koltsov, CEO, VOIR, says, "We are excited about the collaboration with Guerlain. Together we are reinventing the digital beauty world and staying ahead of fast-moving beauty trends”.

Guerlain is one of the oldest continuously operating perfume houses in the world. It’s legendary Jicky, best selling Shalimar and Samsara and the recent ‘Champs-Elysees’ scents have established a worldwide reputation for quality, luxury, and elegance. Guerlain claims that the company sees more than 70 percent of total sales outside of France. Started in 1828, Guerlain’s entry into the modern reality of perfume marketing is backed by the financial clout of LVMH to represent a five-generation tradition of quality.
