Car of the Week: Maruti Suzuki Alto 800


Bangalore: Maruti Suzuki has established itself as a household name in India with its flagship Maruti 800 and Maruti Suzuki Alto. These cars went on to become the highest sold cars in India.

After 12 long years, India’s best-selling car Maruti Suzuki Alto is getting a complete makeover with Maruti Alto 800. The incredible new 800 model is expected to re-establish Maruti’s decades-old domination in the entry-level hatchback space.

Being touted as the replacement of Maruti 800 and Alto, the new Alto 800 boasts of exciting new design features that is sure to catch your attention on the streets. The car has the essential touch of modernity keeping alive the simplicity factor that defines Maruti.

Maruti has scheduled the launch of the new Alto 800 on October 16 2012 keeping in mind the festive season that will help them boost sales.

Performance:

The revamped Maruti Alto 800 comes with an 800cc 0.8-litre F8D Petrol Engine that generates 47.5bhp power at 6000rpm. It is packed with 3 cylinders and boasts of a MPFI fuel-supply system. The torque is expected to increase from the current 62NM and reach nearly 70NM.

Mileage:

Maruti has complied with the most important criteria followed by Indians, fuel efficiency while launching the new Alto 800. The car has a BSIV and BSV compliant engine that is expected to give a mileage of 17 Kmpl on the city roads and 22.74 Kmpl on the highways. The fuel tank has a capacity of 35 liters and will be enough for you to take go on really long and cost-effective drives. The CNG version of the car labeled as Alto 800 Green will run 30.46Km per Kg of CNG.
