Car Of The Week: BMW 1 Series


Bangalore: Spicing up the luxury compact segment of the country, BMW has drove in the all new 1 Series, which will lock horns with its German counterpart, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and the Swedish beauty Volvo V40.

The new offering manufactured indigenously at BMW’s Chennai plant takes cues from its elder siblings. Putting in the word of Sachin Tendulkar who unveiled the 1 Series, “As a car, I like the entire package. The whole car is beautiful. It is not just the size but also the styling, like putting the 3, 5 and 7 series together in this wonderful package called the 1 series. "

Globally available in both 3-door and 5-door options, BMW brings the latter model to India in both petrol and diesel variants.

Exterior:

The design statement of this car adheres to the sporty, young customers in the country. Compared to its rivals Mercedes Benz A Class and Volvo V40 Cross Country, the 1 Series looks more conventional with neat body lines and the trademark kidney grill. The simple fascia is complemented with a freshly-designed headlamp that incorporates daytime running lights. The conventional fog lamps sit at either corner of small air damp.
