It is remarkable that people can still keep secrets in this time of hyper-connectivity. Nevertheless, the world still has many closed (and locked) doors. If you’re traveling anywhere close by, don’t include these spots on your itinerary. A visit to any of these places could come at an extremely high price, either literally or figuratively.

1. Area 51

Area 51 is a secret military facility in Nevada, Las Vegas. The United States Air Force facility is shrouded with intense secrecy, becoming a frequent subject of conspiracy theories and a central component to unidentified flying object (UFO) folklore. All research and occurrences in Area 51 are Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). The theories include the storage, examination, and reverse engineering of crashed alien spacecraft (including material supposedly recovered at Roswell), the study of their occupants (living and dead), and the manufacture of aircraft based on alien technology. There have also been rumors of meetings or joint undertakings with extraterrestrials and the development of exotic energy weapons for the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) or other weapons programs. Other suspicious activities include the development of means of weather control, the development of time travel and teleportation technology, the development of unusual and exotic propulsion systems related to the Aurora Program and activities related to a supposed shadowy one world government or the Majestic 12 organization.
