Sindu Gets Standing Ovation At IFFI On Victory In China Open


PANAJI: Ace shuttler P V Sindhu got a standing ovation, during the opening ceremony of 47th International Film Festival of India, for winning her first super series title in the ChinaOpen. 

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Venkaiah Naidu came up on the stage during the cultural performance to mark the inauguration of IFFI at Dr Shama Prasad Mukherjee stadium.

"We have a good news. P V Sindhu won the first ever China Cup Super Series. We give her a standing ovation for the honour she brought to our country," said Naidu. 

Sindhu, who became the toast of the country after becoming the first Indian women to win a silver at Rio Games, continued her winning streak as she lifted the prestigious title after beating Sun Yu 21-11 17-21 21-11 in the summit clash that lasted an hour and nine minutes.
