In the promise to grow a robust transport infra structure, Jaitley imposed an excise duty on aviation turbine fuel (ATF) shot up to 14pct from present 8pct, making air travel indeed a costly affair for middle class Indians. This reflect a 6pct hike in air travel cost applicable to all airlines across the country as the proposal for SCAs and the regional connectivity scheme are yet to be implemented.
