Visa Wait Time for Indians To Reduce Per New Regulations

Following the reduction of visa wait time to nearly 500 days, the US Embassy introduces several other regulations for a further time reduction for first-time visa applicants.    

Backlogs concerning the waiting time for US visa appointments were reduced on an effective note. Yet, the average waiting time extends to nearly 500 days at minimum, due to which, the US embassy in India is advising Indian travelers to a confirmed appointment at the US embassy or consulate of their final destination.

The US embassy in India tweeted that the US Embassy in Bangkok @USEmbassyBKK has opened for B1 and B2 appointment capacity for Indians who will likely visit Thailand in the future months.

Also, the United Nations have introduced advanced steps like arranging special interviews for first-time applicants and expanding the strength of consular workers to reduce delays in the processing of visas. Following this, the US Embassy in Delhi and the consulates in Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad held special Saturday interview days alongside, as a critical part of the multifaceted strategy, in reducing visa backlogs on an effective note.

Concerning applicants with prior US visas, the US department has instituted remote processing of interview waiver instances substantially. The US mission in India has published over 250, 000 new B1 and B2 appointments and is anticipated to expand in the upcoming periods.
