Vedanta Aluminium Appoints David Stone as CEO of Coal Mines
Vedanta Aluminium has named David Stone as the new Chief Executive Officer of its coal mining operations. Stone will lead the company’s coal mining strategy, focusing on leveraging technology and innovation to optimize resource efficiency, according to a company release. 
Stone’s role will be pivotal in enhancing resource efficiency at Vedanta Aluminium’s thermal power plants in Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh, Odisha, and Korba, Chhattisgarh, while ensuring a commitment to sustainable mining practices.
Vedanta Aluminium currently operates five coal mines with a combined capacity of 40 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

David Stone brings vast experience from notable roles at Anglo American, Xstrata, and Glencore, where he led projects spanning growth phases, mergers and acquisitions, project development, and operations management.
With Stone’s leadership, Vedanta Aluminium aims to strengthen its mining operations and improve resource management, supporting its ambitious expansion plans.
