Vedanta Aluminium Appoints Fabio Roberto Martins as CEO of Billets
Vedanta Aluminium has named Fabio Roberto Martins as the CEO of its billets division. Martins will lead the aluminium billets product group, overseeing strategy, commercial activities, and operational management. His appointment comes as the company plans to increase its billet production capacity to 1.2 million tonnes annually.
Martins brings extensive experience from his previous role as director of operations at Alcoa, where he built a strong track record in the aluminium industry. Welcoming him to the team, Vedanta Aluminium’s CEO, John Slaven, stated, "As India’s largest billet producer and exporter, we are thrilled to have Fabio on board. His global expertise will be crucial in driving innovation and enhancing our position in the market".
Aluminium billets, solid cylindrical blocks produced through casting, serve as a key raw material for various manufacturing processes. With a 580 kilo tonnes annual billet casting capacity, Vedanta Aluminium holds the title of India’s largest producer and exporter of high-quality aluminium billets.
Vedanta Aluminium, a division of Vedanta Limited, produced over half of India’s aluminium output in FY2024, amounting to 2.37 million tonnes. The company’s focus remains on maintaining its leadership in the industry while scaling up its capacity to meet growing demand.
