Union Minister Jitendra Singh unveiled the Technical Centre of the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) in Bopal, Ahmedabad. This cutting-edge facility is geared towards providing comprehensive support to non-government entities (NGEs) within the space sector, covering aspects from design and development to simulation and testing of space technologies.
The Technical Centre addresses challenges faced by NGEs in transforming conceptual space innovations into tangible realities. Equipped with advanced facilities, including the Climate Simulation Test Facility (CSTF), Thermal and Vacuum Environment Simulation Facility (TVAC), Vibration Test Facility (VTF), and specialized labs and clean rooms for assembly, integration, testing, and checkout activities for space systems.
During the inauguration, Union Minister Jitendra Singh emphasized that the Technical Centre aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India's ambitious space endeavors, highlighting the crucial role of the private sector. The government aims to boost India's share in the global space economy from 2% to 8% by 2033 and has introduced policies to encourage private sector participation, such as relaxed investment restrictions and opening up foreign direct investment (FDI) in the space sector. Singh stressed the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors to achieve further advancements.
S. Somanath, Secretary of the Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO, and Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe, underscored the Centre's role in promoting innovation and empowering entrepreneurs. The facility is positioned as a one-stop solution for NGEs, streamlining the transition from initial design phases to the development of fully operational space products and solutions.
With India's growing aspirations in space exploration, the IN-SPACe Technical Centre symbolizes a significant step forward, fostering collaboration between government and private entities to drive innovation and contribute to India's presence in the global space industry.
