Unemployment, a Common Cause for Heart Attacks: Survey

Bangalore: The chances of heart attacks among people who have lost their jobs are relatively higher than the ones who are still stringed to their jobs. According to a U.S. study, in unemployed cases the risk rate of heart attack is as high as 35 percent, as reported by Genevra Pittman at Reuters Health.
The research results as appeared in the ‘Archives of Internal Medicine’ showed that with every successive job losses the chances of heart trouble has shown an increase, which was estimated in over 13,000 aged adults. Even then the correlation between unemployment and increase heart attacks isn’t clearly indicated by these results.

As informed by Matthew Dupre, the lead researcher for the Duke Clinical Research Institute in Durham, North Carolina that a blend of poor management of chronic conditions, stress and deteriorating lifestyle, along with no proper health insurance maybe also be held as responsible causes leading to heart attacks.
Dupre said “Those without a job may be unable to control their high blood pressure or to manage their diabetes (with their usual medication), or rates of smoking may be exacerbated,” as reported by Reuters.

Even now it is too soon to know about the connection between the cause and effect of unemployment and heart attacks, which makes it hard to recommend ways to protect one against heart problems especially among the more prone cases.
