Traffic Offenders Beware! E-Challan Soon to Track You Down
BENGALURU: Do you feel like jumping the red signal every time? If yes then beware! As from now, on no more will you think of violating traffic rules or running down a red light as all over india, cities have now got teeth to fight against traffic violators. This is nothing but the E-challan. The system is believed to bring down the number of traffic violations taking place in the country and also pin point the repeated offenders who keep on breaking the rules instead of repeated warning given to them reports The Times of India..
This system is implemented in major cities like Hydrabad, Navi Mumbai and Bengaluru. Navi Mumbai has the most number of E-Challan devices to monitor traffic violations. Although this system has flaws, the government is trying to fix this issue by year end, and it is said to be implemented fully.
This new initiative by the government of India is to prevent both traffic violations as well as to keep an eye on the un-official fine rendered by traffic police on commuters. In the past, some police officers were also been suspended for their irregular collection of the traffic fines because the amount in their pockets was exceeding the amount billed in fines, this has vastly led to the suspension of some traffic police officers and by this incident the govt has bought this new traffic violation solution in the lime light.
This system is such a big leap in bringing a change in violations because the traffic police now no longer can ask for extra fine which adds to their pocket money.
The fines would be collected via credit or debit card and online. If a violator runs over a red light, then a real time photo of his violation would be captured through a CCTV on the spot and sent to his residence where he will have to pay the fine online. This will for sure prove to be a game changer when it comes to nabbing traffic violators. An online payment mode will also be made optional for the same.
The technology will help in bringing discipline amongst traffic offenders and enable our traffic constables to catch repeated offenders in a more efficient and structured manner. The system will be integrated with a centralized server through which all the traffic violations would be in a single database. This system will eliminate the use of traditional paper pen challan system which is used currently.
