Trade Body USIBC Appreciates the Launch of US-India Strategic Trade Dialogue

A popular American trade body has applauded the launch initiative of the US-India strategic trade dialogue.

The US-India Strategic Trade Dialogue, launched on 6th June 2023, has gained an increased appreciation, especially with Indian Prime Minister Modi’s visit. A top American trade body has commented that the amount of energy and political capital that are dedicated by both nations to addressing export controls and tech reliability is critically nurturing key business sectors and civil society.

Atul Kashyap, President of the US-India business council (USIBC),, expressed his gratitude for taking part in the launching of the initiative on critical and emerging technologies (iCET) at the US Chamber of Commerce. The inaugural India-US strategic trade dialogue (IUSSTD) serves as a key mechanism to enhance the strategic technology and trade collaborations envisaged under the India-US iCET.

The Indian delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra and the US delegation was co-led by Alan Estevez, the Under Secretary for Industry and Security in the US Department of Commerce, and Ambassador Victoria Nuland.

Both India and the US are spending increased energy and political capital in addressing export controls and tech reliability issues much ahead of the state, nurturing key business sectors and civil society. It denotes that both nations are all set to collaborate to effectively tackle strategic challenges, in addition to ensuring the pre-eminence of free societies and enterprise.

Mr Kashyap has expressed his interest and anticipation regarding the progress under the iCET initiative, aiming to engender political momentum for both governments, thus expanding their ambitions on trade to reap formidable benefits for workers and exporters for a shared bilateral trade target of 500 million USD.
