Here’s why—90pct of the total rough diamonds in the world are cut and polished in Surat and it is 99.9pct for India. And 9pct of the diamonds that are exported from India go from Surat. Not just that Surat is a major textile player, it has more than 380 dyeing and printing mills and 41,000 power looms. About 40 pct of India’s fabric comes from Surat. Interesting facts isn’t it?

Vizag

Port city again! However, it has the country’s oldest shipyard and largest sea port. Vizag Steel, Hindustan Steel, GAIL are all in Vizag (popular name). Vizag is one of the biggest fisheries in the country and a significant amount of people rely on the fishery industry for a living. Tuna and other dried fish constitute the exports from Vizag. After the bifurcation of the states, Vizag is now another emerging IT hub.
