The Imperative of Government's IT Spending

“In 2021, governments around the world undertook many transformation initiatives, such as, accelerating hybrid multicloud adoption, modernizing networks with Network as a Service (NaaS), and implementing Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) for advanced cybersecurity. In India, the government has developed many Citizens-to-Government (C2G) delivery platforms, such as the National eGovernance Plan (NeGP), e-visas, and national CSR data portal, which requires a secure and reliable digital infrastructure.  As we move into 2022, the need for this kind of transformation will accelerate, creating a mandate for greater digital infrastructure investment. At Equinix, we strongly believe that the Indian government can accelerate digital transformation in support of their multiple complex missions, e.g. keeping the country safe from cyber threats, making India a sustainable country and encouraging public-private partnerships on open data and data sovereignty.”

“In the future, Indian government agencies will be more digital than they are today. In order to achieve this, legacy software systems running on outdated infrastructure will have to be replaced by virtualized solutions hosted in the cloud. It is challenging for government agencies to handle large IT budgets, but with a pay-as-you-go XaaS model, spending will be eased out over time and budgeting will be more predictable. As a result of this shift towards the cloud, XaaS adoption in India among government organizations will increase exponentially in 2022. ’’
