Tata Power Invests Over Rs 4,200 Crore in Odisha Network Expansion and Upgrade
Tata Power-led power distribution companies (Discoms) have invested Rs 4,245 crore in infrastructure expansion and network up-gradation in Odisha in the last 3-4 years, the company said.
It operates four Discoms in JVs with the Odisha government, TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPCODL), TP Western Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPWODL), TP Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPSODL), and TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPNODL). The Company, Tata Power is serving a customer base of over 9 million.
Of this, Rs 1,232 crore was provided under different government-supported schemes. This funding has enabled the installation of 2,177 circuit kilometres of 33 KV lines and 19,809 Ckms of 11 KV lines, besides augmenting 30,230 distribution transformers, which has improved the reliability of the distribution network in rural as well as urban areas.
Besides, the corporation has sanctioned 166 new PSS out of which 55% have been automated. All these efforts together have helped in achieving an average power supply of 23.68 hours a day in urban areas and 21.98 hours in rural areas, much above the national averages.
Network improvement measures also helped the state reduce AT&C losses, that averaged out at 17.79% in Odisha during FY 2023-24, the company said. This massive investment thus showcases Tata Power's commitment to improving the power infrastructure and reliability of services in Odisha.
