Tata Power appointed Deepesh Nanda as President of Renewables, CEO & MD of TPREL

Tata Power, one of India's largest integrated power companies, has announced the appointment of Deepesh Nanda as the President of Renewables and the CEO & MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, effective from November 2023. Nanda will be taking over from Ashish Khanna, who will be moving to the position of President of the Generation business. Tata Power, Nanda brings with him extensive 28 years of experience from companies like GE, Flowserve, and Tyco.
Nanda has recently joined Tata Power, after previously working as the Chief Executive Officer for South Asia at GE Gas Power. During his time at GE, he was responsible for overseeing operations in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and Nepal, while also serving as the President & CEO of GE's Aero-derivative Gas Turbine business segment for Asia. Nanda holds a degree in Mechanical and Production Engineering from Annamalai University and has also completed an MBA from the Open University Business School in Milton Keynes, UK. In addition, he has undergone leadership training at GE Crotonville.
Tata Power has made some important leadership changes. With his new role, Nanda will be responsible for driving the growth and profitability of the company's renewable energy portfolio. This includes solar, wind, hybrid, and B2C green energy solutions. Additionally, he will be in charge of leading innovation and digital transformation initiatives in the renewable energy sector. Meanwhile, Ashish Khanna, a Tata Power veteran, is moving to the role of President in the company's Generation business cluster. This includes upcoming pumped hydro storage plants, hydro plants, and other new initiatives in addition to the existing hydro and thermal plants in India and abroad. The aim of these key leadership changes is to bring focus to different business and growth areas.
