Tata Power and SJVN Ink Deal for 460 MW Renewable Energy Project
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has recently inked a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with SJVN Limited (SJVN), an Indian public sector entity specializing in hydropower generation, for a 460 MW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) venture. According to the company's official announcement, the facility is engineered to fulfill the 460 MW FDRE demand through the amalgamation of solar, wind, and battery energy storage technologies aimed at optimizing energy dispatch during peak periods and enhancing grid stability.
FDRE facilitates uninterrupted power supply, aiding discoms in meeting Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPO) and Energy Storage Obligations (ESO). This milestone signifies TPREL's first achievement in the FDRE tender, reaffirming its dedication to delivering dependable and eco-friendly energy solutions.

The proposed plant is anticipated to generate approximately 3,000 MUs of power while offsetting about 2,200 million kgs of CO2 emissions annually.  "We are excited to collaborate with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited in this endeavour to promote renewable energy in India. As a result, the renewable energy capacity of TPREL, a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, is reported to have surged to 9,421 MW, encompassing a PPA capacity of 7,978 MW, which includes projects totaling 4,906 MW currently in different stages of development.
The company's operational capacity is recorded at 4,515 MW, comprising 3,485 MW from solar sources and 1,030 MW from wind, as per its internal assessments. Currently, the company's solar EPC portfolio exceeds 12.8 GWp in ground-mount utility scale, with over 2 GW in rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems and more than 100,000 solar water pumps installed.
