Swiggy’s 10-Minute Delivery Service ‘Bolt’ Expands to 500+ Cities Across India
Swiggy has announced the rapid expansion of its 10-minute food delivery service ‘Bolt’ to over 500 cities across India. Launched in October last year, Bolt is now responsible for fulfilling at least one in every ten Swiggy food delivery orders nationwide.
Bolt is designed to cater to customers seeking speed and convenience, focusing on restaurants within a 2-km radius and offering dishes with minimal preparation time. The expansion comes amid the shutdown of rival Eternal’s (formerly Zomato) quick delivery service, ‘Zomato Quick’, citing challenges in achieving profitability and maintaining a consistent customer experience due to insufficient restaurant density and kitchen infrastructure.
Swiggy Food Marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor highlighted Bolt’s alignment with evolving consumer behavior. “Bolt fits into the way people live today. You're hungry, you want something now, and you don't want to compromise. We built Bolt for that moment”, Kapoor said. “Seeing it scale to 500-plus cities in just a few months has been incredible. And this is just the beginning”.
With Eternal stepping back from the 10-minute delivery space, Swiggy’s continued investment in Bolt positions it as a leading player in the ultra-fast food delivery segment, aiming to capitalize on consumer demand for instant gratification without sacrificing quality or reliability.
