Soon, U.S. Customs, Border Checks Likely At Delhi And Mumbai Airports

BANGALORE: Passengers travelling to the U.S. from Delhi or Mumbai may soon be landing in America as domestic arrivals.

To enable this, national aviation carrier Air India has asked the Ministry of External Affairs to facilitate having U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility at Delhi and Mumbai.

The passengers travelling from Delhi and Mumbai can clear all immigration, customs and agriculture inspections required by the U.S .at the facilities during departure itself. On landing in U.S., they can simply collect their baggage and walk off the arrival airports like domestic flyers.

This facility is already in place for those travelling to Dublin and Abu Dhabi.
