140 Cr Spent By Maoists Annually To Fight Gory Wars
Bangalore: Across eight states of India the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh has declared the country’s single biggest challenge for internal security - the Maoist problem. Every year whopping sums of around
140 crore are spent by Maoist cadres on wars, as per the estimation given by government-commissioned study, reports Aloke Tikku for Hindustan Times.
This is the first attempt carried out in order to study the naxals funding on their revolution, expenses and to check on their expenditure closely.
The estimate which has come out after much research and analysis of Maoist documents and interrogation reports, seems much more lower than the previous estimates which ranges between
200 crore to
2,000 crore of the Maoist extortion industry.
According to the latest study drafted by the government it is mentioned that the Maoists revenues were earned every year from a various sources like the mining industry, PWD projects, government schemes, development schemes and PDS, 'tendu' leaf collection, telecom companies and corrupt government servants.
