ASHFAQULLAH KHAN (1900 to 1927)
He was born on October 1900 at Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh as the son of Shri Shafequllah. He was an active participant of nationalist activities against British rule. Ashfaqullah Khan took part in the Kakori Mail Decoity and was a member of the revolutionary organization called Matrivedi Sanstha. Khan was later arrested and sentenced to death on April 3, 1927
BHAGAT SINGH (1909 to 1931)
Bhagat Singh was born as the son of Shri Kishan Singh and Shrimati Vidyavati on September 28, 1909, at Banga, Distt. Lyallpur (now in West Pakistan). At the age of sixteen when he was a student of National College, Lahore he joined the revolutionary movement with a strong motive to liberate India. He founded the Hindustan Socialist Republican Army, and refused to marry in order to dedicate all he has got for the country. There were many revolutionary activities organized by him in various parts of the country including agitations against the Simon Commission and the British rule. Singh was arrested and sentenced to death by hanging in a bomb explosion case in the Central Legislative Assembly at Delhi on April 8, 1929. His two comrades, Sukhdev and Shivram Rajguru, were given the same punishment. The boldness which Bhagat Singh showed in front of the gallows on March 23, 1931 even astonished the British rulers.
