May this festival nurture the spirit of harmony and love, and enhance the respect for women in society", she added.
Raksha Bandhan, commonly known as Rakhi, will be celebrated on August 19 this year. The traditional Hindu festival, rooted in Indian culture, revolves around sisters tying a rakhi around their brothers’ wrists, symbolizing a bond of protection. In return, brothers pledge to safeguard their sisters from harm and offer gifts as tokens of love and care.
The festival has been celebrated for centuries, with references in Hindu religious texts depicting sisters tying rakhis for protection. Raksha Bandhan remains a cherished tradition that continues to inspire the values of love, trust, and respect in families across India.
