Piyush Goyal Engages Italian CEOs to Boost Bilateral Trade

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal met with top Italian CEOs during his official two-day visit to Italy, showcasing India’s innovation ecosystem and inviting investments across various sectors. This visit followed his engagements in France aimed at boosting India-France economic ties.
Goyal held a series of meetings with leaders from prominent Italian companies, highlighting the growing scope for collaboration in manufacturing, technology, healthcare, and food processing in India.
He began his Italy leg by meeting Michele Poggipolini, CEO of engineering and manufacturing tech firm Poggipolini S.p.A., where discussions centered around leveraging India’s expanding role in global supply chains. Goyal emphasized opportunities in technology, innovation, and advanced manufacturing.
The Minister also met Daniele Forni, General Director of SOL Group, a multinational known for its technical and medical gas solutions. Talks focused on the group's expansion across key Indian sectors, including healthcare and industrial gases.
In another strategic interaction, Goyal engaged with Tomaso Carraro, Vice Chairman of Carraro Group, which manufactures axles and transmission systems. He reviewed Carraro India's ongoing operations and future investment strategies, reaffirming India as a hub for innovation-driven manufacturing.
Goyal also met Marco Nocivelli, CEO of EPTA Group, a leader in commercial refrigeration. Discussions explored how the company could tap into India’s fast-growing retail and cold chain sectors and offer sustainable refrigeration solutions.
Furthering food sector ties, he met Stefano Toschi, CEO of Toschi Vignola Srl, a food and beverage company. The talks focused on potential investments and setting up manufacturing facilities in India.

Lastly, Goyal met Giorgio Girondi, Founder and Chairman of UFI Filters Group, which specializes in filtration and thermal management. The discussion centered on UFI’s India expansion and its commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative for automotive and industrial markets.
According to an official statement, Goyal's visit reinforces India’s intent to deepen strategic and economic ties with Italy, encouraging stronger bilateral trade and investment cooperation with key European partners.
