Optiemus Partners with Taiwan's Avix to Manufacture High-Tech Drone Components in India
In a significant move to strengthen India’s defence manufacturing capabilities, Optiemus Unmanned Systems (OUS) has entered into a strategic partnership with Taiwan-based Avix Technologies to jointly develop and manufacture advanced drone cameras, gimbals, and other key components in India. This collaboration marks a major step forward for the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and the broader goal of defence indigenisation.
Announced during the Milipol India Exhibition 2025, the partnership aims to build a robust, self-reliant defence technology ecosystem. As part of the alliance, Avix will contribute its technological expertise in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) design and electronics, while Optiemus will leverage its deep understanding of local defence requirements and its in-house manufacturing infrastructure.
Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairman of Optiemus Group, emphasized the national impact of the collaboration. “We are proud to contribute to India’s defence modernisation with cutting-edge technology that enhances national security and supports the government’s ‘Make in India’ vision”, he said.
Avix Technologies CEO Cooper Chang highlighted the collaborative nature of the venture. “This partnership goes beyond component supply. Together, we are committed to co-creating advanced drone technologies tailored for India’s defence landscape”, he noted.
As part of the announcement, Optiemus Unmanned Systems also unveiled four advanced drones the Marak VT100, Vajra QC55, a canister-launched loitering munition, and a first-person view (FPV) drone. These drones are specifically designed for defence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations and are capable of functioning in high-altitude and electronic warfare environments.
A notable innovation is the integration of optical fibre cable (OFC) navigation in the FPV drones, allowing for jamming-resistant operations in GPS-denied zones. The company is also collaborating with several Indian component manufacturers, further promoting indigenous capabilities in drone technology.
This partnership signals a new chapter in India’s efforts to become a global hub for advanced defence manufacturing.
