OpenAI Offers Free ChatGPT Go Access for Indian Users for a Year
  • ChatGPT Go Rs 399/month plan to be free in India for 12 months from November 4
  • Offer aligns with OpenAI’s DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru
  • Move reflects OpenAI’s growing India-first focus and AI expansion efforts

OpenAI has announced that its ChatGPT Go plan, usually priced at Rs 399 per month, will be available free of cost to all users in India for a year starting November 4. The offer coincides with the company’s DevDay Exchange event in Bengaluru and aims to make advanced AI tools more accessible across the country.

Nick Turley, VP and Head of ChatGPT at OpenAI, said the initiative is part of OpenAI’s effort to help more Indians benefit from AI in everyday life. Existing ChatGPT Go subscribers will also get a full 12 months of free access, with details on how to redeem the offer expected soon.

ChatGPT Go, introduced in August 2025, was created as a more affordable version of the ChatGPT Plus plan. It provides higher message limits and access to OpenAI’s latest GPT-5 model, though with limited research capabilities compared to the premium plans. Despite that, the Go plan has already doubled OpenAI’s paid user base in India within its first month.
