Neera Tanden, an Indian-American policy expert and close confidant of President Joe Biden, has been nominated the White House Staff Secretary.

FREMONT, CA: Neera Tanden, an Indian-American policy expert and close confidant of President Joe Biden, has been nominated the White House Staff Secretary eight months after Republicans rushed her to another key post. The fifty-one-year-old senior advisor to President Joe Biden is nominated to the role that though it is a behind-the-scenes job, but hight critical in the West Wing. Neera will be responsible for managing the paper flow to President Biden regarding administration and federal government operations. White House Staff Secretary is one of the most influential roles in the White House, and Neera will keep her Senior Advisor title and begin providing leadership on specific projects and initiatives. She will be reporting to White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain.

White House Staff Secretary role is considered as the nervous system of the White House since the titleholder makes all the decisions and manages several issues for the US President. Neera Tanden has over twenty years of experience in policymaking and management, which is a quintessential part of her new role. She is a seasoned expert in domestic, economic, and national security policies, and the White House Staff Secretary requires the same.

Eight months ago, Neera withdrew her nomination as the Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) as she was vehemently opposed by Republican Senators. In March 2021, Neera faced several challenges regarding her past social media outburst against multiple lawmakers, including some from her own Democratic Party. While accepting her withdrawal, President Biden had highlighted that he respected her records of accomplishment and experience and is looking forward to having her serve in his administration. Neera Tanden has previously served as Senior Health Advisor, Health Reforms, at the US Department of Health and Human Services. She has also worked with Congress and other prominent stakeholders on several provisions of former President Barak Obama’s most memorable legislative achievement, the Affordable Care Act. Neera is an alumnus of the University of California and has a law degree from Yale Law School.
