Namo Drone Didis from UP and Bihar Shine at Sashakt Nari - Viksit Bharat Event
In a significant stride towards women's empowerment in rural India, around 150 women from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar exhibited their drone piloting skills at the Sashakt Nari - Viksit Bharat programme. Trained by the domestic drone manufacturer Marut Drones, these women, known as Namo Drone Didis, showcased their proficiency in operating AG 365 drones at the event held at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, New Delhi.
Marut Drones specifically trained 90 women from Phulpur District in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and 60 from Motihari in East Champaran, Bihar. The programme, graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, featured agricultural drone demonstrations by the Namo Drone Didis from 10 different locations. Prime Minister Modi also took the opportunity to distribute drones to 1,000 Namo Drone Didis during the event.
Expressing his confidence in the transformative role of women in technology, Prime Minister Modi stated, “I have full faith that Nari Shakti will lead the technology revolution in the country.” He highlighted the potential of drone technology in diverse sectors such as transportation of agricultural produce, medicine delivery, and more.
Marut Drones' CEO and Founder, Prem Kumar Vislawath, emphasized the company's commitment to women's empowerment through technology. He stated, "Marut Drones has leveraged drone technology to further women’s empowerment and equality. We are proud to have supported female drone pilots in tackling the obstacles within male-dominated sectors such as agriculture and aerospace."
Vislawath elaborated on Marut's success in shaping rural prosperity by empowering 150 out of 1,000 Namo Drone Didis. The company's comprehensive training programs, approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), aim to break barriers for aspiring women drone pilots.
The initiative, facilitated by government support and Marut's drone technology, seeks to promote the economic empowerment of women farmers, enabling them to become innovators in modern agricultural methods. This collaborative effort signifies a significant step towards bridging gender gaps and fostering inclusive technological growth in rural areas.
