Bangalore: Our daily schedule is actually boring as we get up in the morning everyday with the same note in mind that we have to hurry up to the office in time. Everyday is the same old 9-6 job story, apart from the general weekend that we spend at home or go somewhere. But the weekends are not just enough to satisfy our hunger for leaves, when we actually feel like spending a quality time with our family members, pets or go for a long vacation outside the town, city or the country.
Employees crave for leaves and if it is a paid leave then the fun of holiday or the vacation becomes more, it's like icing on the cake.
Every business organization has assigned leaves for their employees that they can take in a year. Therefore, the organizations do have paid sick leave policy that is given to the employee whenever he falls sick or is unwell.
Although this policy of paid sick leave is for the benefit of the employees, not everyone is honest while availing it.
According to a U.S. survey conducted by The Employment Policies Institute (EPI), it was found that a majority (51 percent) of the Americans know someone who has used paid sick leave for reasons other than an illness for extending their vacation. Whereas 21 percent of them said that they had personally used sick leave for non-medical reasons.
Generally it is seen that when an employee feel that his sick leaves are not getting utilized, he uses it as an extension of his vacation, because long vacations are rare for a person working in a corporate setup. It's a global trend and Indians also do the same when they feel like extending their holidays.
