Krafton Boosts Gujarat's Gaming and Esports Ecosystem with MoU
Krafton, the developer behind the immensely popular Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), has forged a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government and sports firm TransStadia on March 14. This collaboration aims to fortify Krafton's foothold in India's gaming landscape.
The agreement outlines Krafton's commitment to collaborate closely with the state government to foster the gaming and esports ecosystem in Gujarat. Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of Krafton India, expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasizing the combination of Gujarat's dynamic growth environment with Krafton's expertise in game development and esports. Sohn highlighted the potential for talent development, infrastructure enhancement, and community engagement through this collaboration.
Harsh Sanghavi, Gujarat's Minister for Home, Sports, Youth, and Cultural Activities, lauded the collaboration, stating that the government stands to benefit significantly. Sanghavi believes that this collaboration will accelerate efforts to position Gujarat as a hub for indigenous and interactive esports activities.
This announcement builds upon Krafton's previous commitment made in August 2023, where the company pledged to invest $150 million in Indian gaming and interactive entertainment startups over the next two to three years. This investment underscores Krafton's strategic focus on leveraging India's burgeoning potential as a global gaming hub.
With this MoU, Krafton aims to leverage Gujarat's conducive environment for growth and innovation to drive forward its vision of advancing the gaming and esports landscape in India. The partnership holds promise for unlocking new opportunities, fostering talent, and bolstering infrastructure, further solidifying India's position on the global gaming map.
