FREMONT, CA: As the race for the White House picks up pace amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Senator Kamala Harris joined protestors near the White House chanting ' Hands up! Don't shoot.' Following the same, she defended an anti-lynching bill on the Senate floor. Earlier last week, she warned that America has still not fully embraced, acknowledged, or addressed its history of racism. As Harris continues to make an impression by taking up a supporting role for the protests engulfing the nation, top democrats, including Presidential candidate Joe Biden, have started seeing Harris as a definite favorite to become a running mate.

“I think she’d be great,” said Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio. “I think that she absolutely checks all the boxes.” Fudge, who wants Biden to pick a black woman, added, “This is the opportunity to show the diversity that we were all so excited about when this campaign started." Although Harris has been championed by her Democratic officeholders and leaders, who have identified her as an appealing to suburban and centrist, a majority of the protestors who helped organize the street protests fear that party figures are missing the mood of the moment. As a traditional politician and former prosecutor, many believe that Harris may be unable to capture the passion driving the protests, and her selection could dampen the excitement that is crucial to the Democrats in November.
