KABIL Signs Pact with CSIR-IMMT for Critical Minerals Cooperation
Khanij Bidesh India Limited (KABIL) has solidified its commitment to advancing India's mineral security by signing a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research - Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology (CSIR-IMMT). This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards leveraging technical expertise and fostering knowledge cooperation in critical minerals.
The MoU outlines a framework for KABIL to harness CSIR-IMMT's technical prowess for various projects, including designing and analyzing metallurgical test work plans, developing and reviewing process flowsheets, and selecting process technologies for mineral processing, beneficiation, and metal extraction. Additionally, the agreement paves the way for joint research initiatives and the exchange of scientific information between the two entities.
The signing ceremony, held at the NALCO Corporate Office in Bhubaneswar, saw the presence of key figures including Sadashiv Samantaray, Director (Commercial) and CEO of KABIL, along with Dr. Ramanuj Narayan, Director of CSIR-IMMT. Sridhar Patra, CMD of NALCO and Chairman of KABIL, graced the occasion, emphasizing the importance of this collaboration in fostering a thriving environment for critical mineral exploration.
KABIL, a joint venture company comprising National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO), Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), and Mineral Exploration and Consultancy Limited (MECL), operates under the Ministry of Mines. With a mandate to ensure mineral security and supply-side assurance for the nation, KABIL plays a crucial role in bolstering the Make in India initiative.
Expressing his delight at the collaboration, Sridhar Patra highlighted the significance of advancing scientific research and technology development in the mineral and metallurgical sectors. He underscored their pivotal role in driving the growth and sustainability of the Indian mining industry, ultimately contributing to meeting the nation's mineral security needs and domestic requirements.
