Upkar Singh Ahuja, who was famous for his persistent attempts at internationalising Punjab's large-scale and MSME industries, was instrumental in spearheading this move. His dedication towards approaching Japanese businesses and mentors meant that local businesses could be connected with global experience and foreign investment directly. Addressing the function, Ahuja underlined that the focus is not merely to bring modernity to Punjab's manufacturing sector but to make the state a focus for advanced, sustainable and world-class industry.
The meeting evoked a massive response, with business inquiries amounting to around Rs 1,300 crore. The talks ranged across a broad range of industrial requirements, such as state-of-the-art machinery, green manufacturing technologies, automation solutions and collaborative research projects. "The depth of interest from Japanese companies reflected Punjab's increasing reputation as a destination of choice for high-technology collaborations and foreign investment", Ahuja added.
Outside of business, the conference also underscored the more profound cultural congruence between Japan and India. Yasumi Suzuki, during his keynote speech, encapsulated the essence of the partnership, saying, "When Indian entrepreneurship crosses paths with Japanese technology, it is not a business transaction it is the dawn of a new era of trust, innovation and mutual prosperity. The partnerships being contemplated here in Punjab can build global standards for manufacturing excellence".
