India's Safest Cities for Women

The country’s well-known hub for Information Technology sector, Bangalore was rated the second safest city in the survey with 12 percent votes. Bangalore is comparatively safe for women among other metros in the country. The city is increasing awareness on safety for women through various campaigns. Recently the state government launched safety drive by distributing pamphlets and introducing toll free numbers to be contacted in case of an emergency for women. However there has been high level of crime reported in the city in the recent past.
As per the survey, 84 percent women informed to have travelled alone in the country for leisure, business or both. The survey was conducted with mixed crowd of 500 female respondents which included working women, number of self-employed and homemakers. With the trend of high number of Indian women travelling solo, Nikhil Ganju, Country Manager of the TripAdvisor India said, “The rise in women travelling alone on business is an understandable fallout of the increase in the number of working women. The real surprise is the significant number of Indian women who are choosing to travel solo on vacation.”
