Y. Venugopal Reddy, former Governor of RBI and the present Chairperson of 14th Finance Commission is one of the eminent economists of the recent times. He is the man behind several economic reforms. After the recent recommendations laid down by the Fourteenth Finance Commission, which has done away with the distinction between Plan and non-plan expenditures, Reddy says that the plan mind-set be replaced with the development mindset. Reddy, who is a 1964 batch IAS Officer quit his services and joined RBI as the Deputy Governor in 1996.

Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen is the living example of the finest economists in India, a Doctorate from Cambridge University. Earlier this year Sen, withdrew his candidature for the second term as the Chancellor of Nalanda University. Besides this Amartya Sen, is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows. He was Professor of Economics at London School of Economics, Delhi School of Economics, Jadavpur University in Calcutta and the Oxford. He contributed majorly in the subjects of welfare economics and development economics.
