Congressman Danny K Davis presented the awards to these eminent women at the 10th Annual Congressional International Women's Day Gala

FREMONT, CA: Women & Wealth Inc is a not-for-profit organization that holds events on International Women's Day to empower, inspire. Support women across Canada who are, or are on their way to becoming, confident and passionate leaders of our businesses, organizations, governments, schools, and communities, is hosting the 2022 International Women's Day Women + Wealth Galas. The organization hopes to close the gender gap and promote gender equality in society by working together.

Over a half-dozen, notable Indian-American women from throughout the country were honored at the US Capitol for their outstanding achievements. The prizes were awarded by Congressman Danny K Davis during the 10th Annual Congressional International Women's Day Gala, which was co-hosted by the American Multiethnic Coalition and the Multiethnic Advisory Task Force at the US Capitol.

Producer artist Rashaana Shah, Indica News founder and journalist Ritu Jha, physician Dr. Kalai C Parthiban, social activists Madhu Rohatgi and Chandani Duvvuri, artist Indrani Davaluri, popular anchor and host Nilima Mehra, and community activist Suhag Mehta were among the Indian-American women honored Ritu Jha remarked in her award speech that it matters a lot for a woman when she is recognized for her efforts. Such praise would instil confidence, motivate them to achieve better, and give her the strength to take on new tasks. Congressman Davis praised the honorees for their achievements.

Ritu Jha is an experienced journalist and the founder of indica News, a California-based online daily focused on the problems of the South Asian diaspora in the United States. Ritu noticed the need for a forum that could showcase the successes, concerns, and conditions of the South Asian community in the United States after working as a Special Correspondent for Rediff Inc. and its journal India Abroad in the United States. As a result, indica News — the community's voice – was formed.
