Indian-American Business Leader Arun Agarwal Appointed to Texas Economic Board
Indian-American business leader Arun Agarwal has been appointed to the Texas Economic Board, bringing his expertise to advance the state's economic development and innovation.
In a significant move underscoring Texas's commitment to diversity and its growing economic influence, Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Arun Agarwal, a prominent Indian-American entrepreneur based in Dallas, as the vice chairman of the Texas Economic Development Corporation (TEDC) Board of Directors.
Agarwal’s appointment brings a wealth of experience to the TEDC. As the CEO of Nextt, Agarwal manages a broad and varied portfolio that includes textiles, cotton trading, real estate and sports management. His leadership extends beyond business; he is the chairman of the National Cricket League (NCL), USA, an initiative that has gained quick recognition. Agarwal also holds several influential positions, including co-chair of the Indian American CEO Council, president of the Dallas Parks and Recreation Board and board member of prestigious organizations such as the US India Friendship Council, the University of Texas executive board, the Texas Tech Innovation HUB, and the MD Anderson Board of Visitors.

Agarwal’s educational background is equally impressive, with an MBA from IMT, Ghaziabad, a Master’s in Computer Information Systems from Southern New Hampshire University and an advanced certification in International Business from Harvard University.
The TEDC, a vital public-private partnership with the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, plays a crucial role in promoting Texas as the premier state for business both domestically and internationally. The state's dedication to embracing diverse leadership also marks a notable milestone in the increasing prominence of Indian-American figures in major economic roles.
Agarwal’s recent accomplishments include leading a successful delegation trip to India alongside Governor Abbott, which strengthened economic ties between Texas and India. In his new capacity as vice chairman of the TEDC Board of Directors, Agarwal is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing Governor Abbott’s vision of establishing Texas as a leading global economic power.
