India-Mauritius Relations Soar as PM Modi and PM Ramgoolam Strengthen Ties

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had fruitful talks with his Mauritian counterpart, Navinchandra Ramgoolam, in Port Louis, taking stock of bilateral ties and discussing new ways to further deepen the long-standing relationship between the two countries.
After their discussions, PM Modi posted on social media, "Had a great meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam this evening. Appreciated the invite to join Mauritius' National Day celebrations and his special gestures during my visit. Conveyed thanks to PM Ramgoolam for the conferment of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean".
In a symbolic expression of friendship, the two leaders made a joint trip to a banquet honoring PM Modi, which reaffirmed the solid nature of the association that has blossomed in the last decade under Modi's watch. PM Ramgoolam had also greeted PM Modi at the airport during the day in person, underscoring the friendly nature of their tie.
PM Modi highlighted India's pride at being a reliable development partner of Mauritius, and he asserted once again that the two nations would cooperate closely in advancing the cause of the Global South. Areas of primary importance discussed were defense, security, economic cooperation, and cultural exchange, pointing to a promise to increase collaboration across critical fields.
Subsequently, PM Modi spoke at a lively community event at the Trianon Convention Centre, highlighting the long-standing cultural and emotional bonds that exist between India and Mauritius. "Mauritius is not a partner country. For us, Mauritius is family", he expressed, eulogizing the common heritage and family-like relationship that exists among the citizens of both countries.
The occasion was further special due to the attendance of PM Ramgoolam and his spouse, Mrs. Veena Ramgoolam. PM Modi personally presented the OCI cards to the couple, underlining the importance of India-Mauritius friendship.
The trip, punctuated by flashes of mutual respect and affection, reaffirmed the abiding relationship between the two countries and their common vision for a brighter future. With both leaders sounding hopeful for increased cooperation, the encounter represented another milestone in the developing India-Mauritius partnership.
