India to Boost ACC production by 10 GWh, MHI conducts pre-bid for Global Tender
The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) convened a pre-bid gathering at IFCI Limited in New Delhi, marking the commencement of the second round under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme aimed at bolstering India's Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) manufacturing capacity by an additional 10 GWh. Industry stakeholders, along with government entities including NITI Aayog, Ministry of Power, MNRE, and the industry association IESA, actively participated in the meeting, signaling a significant stride in fortifying India's ACC manufacturing capabilities.
The session aimed to lay the groundwork for a worldwide tender to develop giga-scale ACC manufacturing plants in India, emphasizing technology-neutral ACCs. The Ministry provided comprehensive information on the tender's scope, goals, technical requirements, eligibility criteria, and assessment procedures, with March 4, 2024, designated as the deadline for bidder inquiries.
Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, the Union Minister of Heavy Industries, underscored the significance of the PLI ACC scheme in propelling India towards leadership in sustainable energy technologies, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of fostering self-reliance in India.
The tender documents were made accessible starting from January 24, 2024, with the deadline for bids set for April 22, 2024, followed by bid opening on April 23, 2024. The ministry emphasized the transparent two-stage bidding process conducted online through the CPP Portal, operating under the Quality and Cost Based Selection (QCBS) framework. This process is designed to attract international expertise to India's ACC manufacturing sector.
