India Pays $37.64 Million to UN on Time
India has paid $37.64 million to the United Nations Regular Budget for 2025, getting it on the UN's 'honour roll' of 35 member states that have paid their assessed contributions in full and on time. The payment was made by India on 31 January 2025 within the 30-day time limit prescribed in the UN financial regulations.
According to the UN Committee on Contributions, as of January 31, 35 countries met their financial obligations for the regular budget. UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric thanked India at a daily press briefing, saying, "We thank our friends in India". India has consistently fulfilled its UN financial commitments on time, thereby reinforcing a renowned identity as a responsible member state.
Last week, UN General Assembly President Philemon Yang, who is due to visit India from February 4-8, appreciated the country's commitment and stated that "India continues to fulfill its obligation as a member state of the UN by paying its dues in full and on time".
India's timely contribution reflects its continued support for multilateralism and global governance under the UN framework, further reinforcing its role as a key player in international affairs.
