India Ideas Summit to Foster Trust, Resilience, and Growth in US-India Economic Partnership
The theme for this year's USIBC summit is 'trust, resilience and growth'. The summit which is being held on June 12 and 13 will be focusing on how the three principles -- trust, resilience, and growth — underpin the India-US economic partnership across multiple sectors.
Next week, the India Ideas Summit will witness the participation of prominent figures such as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, key members of the Biden administration, influential leaders from the US Congress, and notable corporate representatives from both India and the US.
The summit, which will span over two days starting on June 12, will revolve around the theme of Trust, Resilience, and Growth. The primary objective is to explore and emphasize the crucial role these three guiding principles play in strengthening the economic partnership between the United States and India across various sectors.
This year, the annual summit of the US India Business Council (USIBC), an integral part of the US Chambers of Commerce, holds significant importance. It precedes Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inaugural state visit to the United States, which is scheduled to commence on June 21.
USIBC president Atul Keshap stated that they were going to have the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, come and speak to their group on Monday, June 12th. They were going to have a session with Deputy Secretary of State Rich Verma. Keshap expressed their intention to explore ways of enhancing the aspirations of the United States and India for a further realization of happiness and prosperity between the two free peoples. He mentioned that it would be great to receive insights from the highest-ranking officials of the State Department, which was scheduled for Monday. Additionally, he noted the inclusion of a congressional component and mentioned a board dinner. Regarding Tuesday, the Ideas Summit was set to feature addresses by Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk, and Amos Hochstein, the president's advisor on energy issues.
During the discussions, various eminent individuals including Lindsey Ford, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for South and Southeast Asia, and Dr. Vivek Lall, CEO of General Atomics Global Corporation, among others, will explore strategies to foster mutual prosperity between the United States and India.
The perspective of the Indian government on advancing the bilateral relationship will be shared by Taranjit Singh Sandhu, India's Ambassador to the United States. Keshap highlighted that the member companies of the USIBC, representing both Indian and American businesses, are global leaders in terms of technological capabilities and managerial expertise.
These companies prioritize the well-being of their employees and communities. They demonstrate great respect in their interactions with the local populations in both countries. Furthermore, they actively contribute to the upliftment of communities, making a positive impact in their respective regions in America and India.

He mentioned that there is currently a momentous occasion occurring, where India's ascent to global prominence is gaining momentum. He pointed out that India has progressed from being the world's fifth-largest economy to rapidly approaching the position of the third-largest economy on the planet.
He conveyed that all member companies aspire for India to become a USD 30 trillion economy within their lifetimes. He emphasized that this achievement would be beneficial for hundreds of millions of Indian citizens, as well as for America and the world as a whole. He stated that the main theme of the summit is to fully seize this opportunity so that the people of India can realize their maximum potential and lead happy, prosperous, and peaceful lives.
Keshap remarked that he finds India's economic growth profoundly impressive. He stated that GDP serves as a significant indicator for assessing the power and influence of nations, and highlighted the remarkable growth of India's GDP. Credible institutions have made reasonable projections that suggest India's economy will reach the scale of five, ten, and twenty trillion within a remarkably short period.
